We were worried that the title of February's Heritage Talk, Richard Parker & the Burton Alabaster Men,tn SNY01644 DxO edit-1 might deter anyone familiar with the book or the film The Life of Pi in which Richard Parker is a fierce Bengal tiger. There was no need to worry -  A packed Hastings Hall heard Moira Ackers, a member of the Church Monuments Society, talk about a non-feline Richard Parker from the sixteenth century, who designed and made the stunning carving on the ancient table tomb in St Helen’s Church, as well as many other fine monuments around the Midlands. Not a tiger at all! Phew!
