Conversations about the End of Life

Once a week for 3 weeks in May 2019 we held a series of evening 'Conversations' where we talked about death, acknowledging how much it hurts, discovering how to have open conversations about it, and considering where comfort lies. The first of these was Gravetalk - an informal café space with refreshments to accompany our discussions, and based on an extremely useful resource produced by the Church of England. The middle week of our series was during Dying Matters Awareness Week, and we met to plan our funerals, an evening which included hearty singing of some favourite hymns. Our third meeting was  Leaving a Legacy - a cheese & wine evening where we had a very informative presentation from Revd Mary, with fascinating examples of how legacies have benefited St Helen's in the past, and an explanation of how any received nowadays would be used.
