We Flew The Flag
Our youth group, PRG, joined in the nationwide Fly the Flag celebrations. Internationally famous artist Ai Weiwei had designed a flag to mark the 70th anniversary of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights. Arts organisations and human rights charities, who joined together to form Fly The Flag, invited others across the UK to create their own flag and fly it on 24 – 30 June 2019. Inspired by Ai Weiwei's film explaining how his visits to refugee camps were the inspiration for his flag depicting a single footprint, PRG designed a flag of many 'muddy' footprints. Given the rainy June weather, they fully expected the brown paint part of their design to get washed away, but having seen Ai Weiwei's film of children living in tents in harsh weather conditions, this didn't seem inappropriate.
