Baptisms

Baptism (also known as 'Christening') is a very special event in the life of a child or an adult.

We are delighted that you are interested in finding out about Baptisms at St Helen’s! Baptism formally marks a new beginning – the beginning of a life long journey… knowing God as your loving heavenly Father and looking to Jesus as your saviour and model and guide! When a baby or young child is baptised, their parents and godparents and the whole congregation dedicate themselves to do all that they can to help the young one come to know God personally. When a young person or adult is baptised, they are making a public declaration that they are a Christian – a follower of Jesus! A Baptism service also reminds each of us of the Christian story and invites us to make that story even more part of our life story! That’s why St Helen’s is delighted that you are interested in finding out more about Baptism!

Who can get baptised at St Helen’s?

We have what is known as an 'open policy' regarding baptisms at St Helen’s – which means that we will try to help you as best we can. Baptisms at St Helen’s can be arranged for babies, children and adults who:
• live in Ashby de-la Zouch OR
• who attend services at St Helen’s OR
• have a 'link' with St Helen’s, (you can discuss this with one of the clergy). If you live in another parish, you will be asked, as a matter of courtesy to contact your local vicar to inform them that your or your child’s baptism will be taking place at St Helen’s.

When are the Baptism services?

Baptisms take place approximately once a month on the second Sunday of the month at 12.30pm. For baptism enquiries contact us by emailing our parish office - sthelensashby@gmail.com

Cost?

There is no charge or fee for a baptism. You will have the opportunity to make a donation to the continuing work of our Church during the service.
